Ferrovia Soprelevata

THE OPERA
The libretto of FERROVIA SOPRELEVATA was created by the writer Dino Buzzati for the Italian Radio and transformed in an opera with Luciano Chailly for the Teatro Donizetti of Bergamo in 1955.
It was the first  time for the famous journalist and writer to create a text  for music and the first real opera for the young composer, working for television and radio.
The peculiarity of the opera was the mixture of a spoken part with the musical part and the two sensibilities  were brightly translated in the work.
After that Buzzati and Chailly will write together other tree operas and a song for the actress Laura Betti.

FERROVIA SOPRELEVATA
is the story of a devil, Max, sent in mission on earth to corrupt a pure girl Laura. He succeeds the mission, but falls in love with the young singer and for that reason tries to change is nature to stay on earth with her.
In the original version Max is transformed in dog by an exorcism operated by a  bishop. That version could not be played and the priest was changed in a psichiatrist, that operated an elettroshock to change the devil nature.
The end is a poetical conjunction of the two souls.
